The Legend and history of Black Hills Gold
According to legend, a Frenchman named Henri LeBeau lost his way while searching for gold during the gold rush days in the Black Hills. Growing weak from hunger he fell asleep beneath a tree and dreamed of beautiful grape vines and grapes from his homeland of France. When he woke up he heard running water from a stream nearby, upon following the water down stream he discoverd grapes that are native to South Dakota.
Henri settled in the Black Hills and crafted Jewelry using three collors of gold with designs representing the grapes and leaves that had saved his life.

The distinctive colors of Black Hills Gold are actually created through an alloying process, which mixes other metals with pure 24 karat gold. The rose color is made my combining gold with copper. The delicate green color is achieved by the addition of sterling sliver with gold.
